What you Need to Know About Broad Spectrum CBD

There are so many different kinds of CBD products available now that even experienced consumers get confused. To help you figure out which is best for you, let’s start at the beginning. CBD, or cannabidiol, is just one of over 100 cannabinoids we extract from the hemp plant. These plant compounds are believed to work better together, on a bigger variety of conditions afflicting the body, than when taken in isolation. This is called the “entourage effect,” and it is not limited to full spectrum CBD products which also contain small amounts of THC (less than 0.3% by weight). Broad spectrum CBD, like Pure Hemp Botanicals Pure Balance 3,000 mg and 1,500 mg Broad Spectrum tinctures, can also deliver an entourage effect. So which is right for you?

Broad Spectrum CBD vs Full Spectrum CBD vs CBD Isolate

Broad spectrum CBD is one of three forms CBD commonly available for purchase by consumers. The other two are full spectrum CBD and CBD isolate. When we manufacture broad spectrum CBD products, we strive to retain every cannabinoid found in the hemp plant except for THC, the cannabinoid in marijuana that gets you “high.” We actively remove only THCs from the raw material and leave everything else, including hemp’s beneficial terpenes and other natural compounds. People who may be subject to drug screenings can still choose a broad spectrum product to enjoy the entourage effect with only a very minor chance of their CBD products triggering a positive THC drug test. (Remember – it is still possible!)

The second major category of CBD products are made from CBD isolate. When we produce CBD isolate we remove all cannabinoids and everything else to end up with a raw material that is 98-99% pure CBD. It looks like a crystal. Products made with  CBD isolate will have even less THC and can still be effective for many conditions, but the dosage may need to be higher than a full or broad spectrum CBD product to achieve a similar result. Like broad spectrum products, isolate-based CBD is not psychoactive, but there is no “entourage effect.” An example of an isolate-based product are Pure Hemp Botanicals’ Pure Sleep Gummies. These great tasting gummies support good sleep with CBD isolate, CBN isolate, and melatonin, three naturally occurring compounds, with non-detectable levels of THC. For joint and soothing support, add Pure Hemp Botanicals Roll On Cooling Gel or Warming Balms.

The difference between full spectrum and broad spectrum CBD really boils down to the THC levels. Federal law has defined “hemp” as containing hemp-derived cannabinoids including up to 0.3% Delta 9 THC by weight. The law was set up this way because hemp extracts naturally contain THC, and the full spectrum of cannabinoids were identified by lawmakers as having the greatest potential to deliver the most complete entourage of benefits to support the most health conditions. When we produce a full spectrum product we try to retain all of hemp’s useful materials, while distilling out waxes, chlorophyll, and other non-beneficial and bad-tasting plant compounds. However, because THC is not removed, full spectrum CBD products may trigger a positive drug test, especially at high dosages and among people with slower metabolisms. Try Pure Balance 3,000 mg tincture for serious conditions, or Pure Balance Gummies to support everyday relaxation.
