Important tips For Making CBD Dog Broth
- Bone broth is not a meal or bone replacement, just a wellness boosting treat.
- The best broths use a variety of bones for a rich blend of collagen, protein, marrow, gelatin, glucosamine, and chondroitin.
- Chicken, turkey, pork, or beef bones work well, although you should never use anything that your pet might be allergic to.
- After you strain the broth make sure to discard all bones and save the chunks of meat, fat, and little bits of vegetables – your dog will love it all the more if you leave those in.
- Bone broth may not gel up and that is perfectly fine.
- Do not add the CBD oil to the whole batch of broth. Add the right CBD dose into your dog’s broth individually before each serving.
- If your dog has never had bone broth before start by pouring 1-2 tablespoons over their food. If your dog responds well you can give them a 1/4 cup serving once a day as a wellness booster. Add the right dose of CBD oil to the ¼ cup of broth and feed it to your dog preferably before mealtime for better CBD absorption.
- Refrigerated, bone broth will last 3-4 days. A convenient way to store broth is to pour it into an ice tray and freeze for up to 8 months.
You don’t want to feed your dog too much bone broth. We recommend no more than a 1/4 cup of bone broth a day.
Now here’s a super easy healthy bone broth recipe for your dogs wellness.
Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cook Time: 1 Day
What You Need
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 pound beef marrow bones
- 2 raw pigs feet
- 4 cloves garlic
- 4 sticks celery
- 2 large carrots
- 1/2 cup parsley
- 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar, preferably organic, with the mother
- Water, enough to cover the bones by two inches.
- Pure Pet Harmony CBD Oil – Add to each individual serving of broth – not the whole batch.
Directions
- There’s very little preparation involved for bone broth. Start by chopping all the vegetables and herbs and place in the slow cooker. Add a pound of beef marrow bones and pigs feet.
- Boil water and pour into the slower cooker. Cover the bones by about two inches. Then add 1/3 cup of apple cider vinegar.
- Simmer on the low setting in your slow cooker for at least 12 hours preferably 24, and up to 72 hours. Just remember to top up the water and don’t let the pot get too dry. Another way to make bone broth quickly is by using a pressure cooker and cooking for 4 hours. This is a super speedy convenient way to make this broth.
- Once finished, remove all the bones from the broth. You can run it through a strainer and pull out bones. Remember that all the connective tissue from the pig’s feet will have broken down so you’ll need to be extra diligent to remove all the small bones. Add veggie and meat bits back to broth.
- Once cooled, your bone broth can stay in the fridge for up to three days. You can portion it into ice cube trays and store in the freezer for up to 8 months.
- When you are ready to give your dog a serving of broth, measure out ⅓ cup. Stir in CBD oil and serve before meal time for best absorption.
