What is CBN and Why is it in Pure Sleep?

Hemp contains over a hundred cannabinoids, these plant compounds hold the key to our endocannabinoid system to maintain homeostasis and provide us with many wellness benefits.

Out of all of the cannabinoids in hemp, Cannabinol, or CBN stands out! This cannabinoid has sedative effects that promote sleep. CBN is present in small amounts in hemp and cannabis plants. Some hypothesize it may be the tiny amounts of CBN in hemp that make you feel relaxed. Evidence suggests that this hemp compound may be responsible for sedative effects, stimulating appetite, and enhancing the effect of CBD oil.

What is CBN?

Just like the cannabinoid CBD, CBN is an active cannabinoid that can be derived from hemp or cannabis. Our Pure Sleep hemp extracts contain CBN which contributes to the relaxing effects you may feel from this formula. This cannabinoid reportedly has powerful soothing effects and supports sleep.

CBN is sparking interest for its sedative properties, and there is ongoing research that supports it. Our own Pure Hemp Botanicals team agrees! Now that we have insight into the properties of CBN from credible sources, our product team has gone to work creating powerful sleep formulas that are sure to help you get the best quality sleep so you can recharge and wake up feeling great.

Pure Hemp Botanicals new Pure Sleep formulas feature CBN, full spectrum CBD oil, and melatonin. Pure Sleep is scientifically formulated to help you get to sleep faster and stay asleep, naturally.

How does CBN work?

CBN interacts with CB1 receptors, similar to how THC does. When we talk about the two significant cannabinoids, THC and CBD, we often mention how THC causes psychoactive effects, while CBD does not. CBN is known to have sleepy effects.

Where does CBN come from?

CBN develops naturally as a result of THC degradation that can happen when cannabis or hemp flowers have been heated or exposed to oxygen. Aged and oxidized hemp and cannabis flowers contain higher levels of CBN. Our CBN products are derived from Pure Hemp, just like our CBD.  In order to extract a significant amount of CBN, it takes a lot of plant material!

It may take a bit more hemp to make it, however, the powerful effects of this cannabinoid hold the solution to a better night sleep.

What CBN research has revealed?

Researchers are intrigued by CBN and are actively studying the effects. Thus far, all indications show that CBN has the potential to help with sleep problems and other health conditions. Researchers are continuing to investigate, as much more may be beneficial about this specific cannabinoid.

Research with mice has shown that CBN can prolong sleep time. Other reports indicate CBN’s sedative effects are amplified when combined with THC, even in the small amounts in our full spectrum extract. CBN contributes to sedation via the entourage effect, having other cannabinoids and terpenes present in our products enhance  CBN’s overall effectiveness.

Early evidence of how CBN works with receptors in the body supports future studies. Studies have led scientists to believe that CBN may be an effective appetite stimulant, enhance the immune system response, support injury recovery, and support sleep quality. Nothing has been proven, however, research shows positive results and evidence that this cannabinoid has a lot of potential.
